A new wine brand in Moldova: Aproape Wine
The range includes, to start, one sparkling wine, four white wines (single-varietal and blends), and one blended red wine.
The winery belongs to the Roșca family, well known in Chișinău through the Aproape restaurant, who decided to continue a family tradition by investing in wine production. The story began in 2020, with 24 hectares of Sauvignon Blanc planted in the Codru area, Hîrova village, Călărași district.
Currently, the planted area has grown to almost 120 hectares, with European and local varieties. In Orhei, a winery of its own is being built, with a full production cycle.
The white brut sparkling wine, made using the Charmat method from Pinot Blanc, has a yellow color with greenish reflections and aromas of citrus, green apple and floral notes; it contains 12.5% alcohol and only 4 grams of sugar, placing it close to the extra brut style. The estimated shelf price is around 180 MDL.
Another new wine is a single-varietal Chardonnay 2024, made in "new world" style, with tropical accents of pineapple and mango, notes of vanilla and hazelnut, and a full-bodied taste.
Both the sparkling wine and the still wines are made in collaboration with a French winemaking consultant (a "flying winemaker").
The range also includes a classic blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, aged six months in contact with oak wood, with aromas of forest fruits and spices and a full, round taste with a long finish.
All the wines are produced in limited editions of 3,000–5,000 bottles per SKU, with shelf prices between 150 and 170 MDL. They can already be found on the Aproape restaurant menu, and will soon reach wine shops and major retailers as well.
